Norway’s Sevan Marine, through its unit HiLoad LNG, signed an agreement to cooperate with Fluor on global projects utilizing HiLoad’s floating regasification dock (FRD) LNG technology.
Speaking of the agreement, Sevan Marine’s CEO Reese McNeel said the two companies will look to provide solutions for floating LNG storage and regasification units and explore “the opportunities in the regasification market that this agreement creates.”
According to Pierre Bechelany , senior vice president of pipelines and LNG at Fluor, the agreement will enable the two companies to “evaluate and deliver both marine- and land-based LNG storage and regasification solutions.”
The FRD technology is an alternative to conventional units and is applicable to floating LNG receiving, storage, transshipment and regasification terminals, Sevan marine claims.
The FRD solution is applicable for facilities that deliver 50 to more than 400 million standard cubic feet per day of gas and allows for use of a conventional LNG carrier as the floating storage unit.
LNG regasification systems may be kept offshore, without the requirement for port facilities, while maintaining operation during challenging weather and ocean conditions, the company’s statement reads.
