The Port of Esbjerg informed via social media that it is preparing to handle the components of the Horns Rev 3 offshore wind farm in Denmark.
“In 2016, 1,100 MW of offshore wind capacity was shipped from the Port of Esbjerg and we expect to see off at least as much this year. Since the beginning of the year, we have already shipped wind components to offshore wind farms in the Netherlands, UK and Germany. And we are currently preparing the shipment of wind components for the Danish offshore wind farm Horns Rev 3,” the port stated via LinkedIn .
In 2016, air systems, cable plants and substations on land were installed. At the same time, a 220kV submarine cable and a transformer platform parallel to it were installed in the middle of the wind farm area.
The wind turbine installation at the Horns Rev 3 site is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2018, with the work set to be carried out by A2SEA’s Sea Installer .
Horns Rev 3 will comprise 49 MHI Vestas 8MW turbines, optimised at 8.3MW.
The offshore wind farm, developed by Vattenfall, will be built between 29 and 44 kilometres west of Houstrup Strand on Jutland’s west coast, in water depths of up to 21 metres.
The project is valued at more than DKK 7.5 billion (EUR 1 billion).
