East Coast Oil and Gas Engineering (EC-OG) is set to deploy its Subsea Power Hub (SPH) system at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) Shapinsay Sound tidal test site.

EC-OG has developed the SPH to provide localised electrical power directly to remote subsea locations. It was designed to convert ocean currents into renewable power.

The installation of the SPH is scheduled for next week, following winch a trial period is planned until late-September 2017.

The vessel MV C-Odyssey will deploy the device and remain moored onsite during the installation period, planned for completion on April 30, 2017.
