Høglund Marine Automation has won contracts to supply automation systems for an LNG bunker vessel Bernhard Schulte, and two chemical tankers for Sirius Shipping.

The company will provide power management system, and additional systems that manage interactions between the ship machinery systems, and the cargo plant, for Bernhard Schulte’s LNG bunkering vessel, which will be built at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard.

According to the company’s statement, unlike LNG carriers that use boil-off gas to burn in their engines, bunkering barges must extract vapour from receiving ships to use as fuel, resulting in additional interfaces between the gas plant and the rest of the ship, increasing the complexity of the automation.

In addition to the LNG vessel, Høglund will provide the automation systems for Sirius Shipping’s chemical tankers, to be built at the AVIC Dingheng yards in China, linking the power management systems to the cargo system.

The company has not disclosed the value of the two contracts.
