Tidal Technology Center Grevelingendam (TTC-GD) has secured €4.1 million from the Dutch government.
The funding for the TTC-GD was announced on April 20, 2017, by the Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs, Henk Kamp, as part of the €25 million investment package set to boost the economy of the Dutch Province of Zeeland.
TTC-GD will be located on the Grevelingendam in Zeeland, which is part of the Dutch flood defense system.
When completed in 2017/2018, TTC-GD will feature three test channels where tidal technology developers will be able to test, certify, and showcase their technology .
It will also feature 4 demonstration turbines that will be made be available to research institutes and universities for independent research.
A Brussels-based industry group representing the renewable ocean energy sector in Europe, Ocean Energy Europe, has on social media welcomed the TTC-GD funding announcement.
