Tidal Bridge BV, a joint venture of Strukton International and Dutch Expansion Capital (DEC), has been selected to construct a floating bridge equipped with tidal power plant in Indonesia.
The first scope of work for the project, dubbed the Palmerah Tidal Bridge, consists of the construction of the 800 meter Palmerah Bridge at Larantuka Strait integrated with tidal power plant with an installed capacity of 18MW to 23MW.
The contract value of the project’s first phase is up to $200 million and will be rolled out in two years, providing energy for more than 100.000 people, Tidal Bridge BV said.
Latif Gau , CEO Tidal Bridge Indonesia, said: “The Indonesian government was pleasantly surprised by the inventiveness of the partners, which made sure we could very quickly move to the implementations phase.”
After the completion of the first phase, the project will be followed by an extension and finalization of the power plants to an installed capacity of 90MW to 115MW.
The total project duration is four years and the contract value amounts up to $550 million, and once constructed, it would provide power for more than half a million people, according to Tidal Bridge BV.
This is the first project as part of the Dutch – Indonesian cooperation in the area of water work, supported by the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure & Environment, the Dutch Embassy in Jakarta, the Indonesian province NTT, the Ministry of Energy, Public Works & Marine, and the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague.
