Reimerswaal Dredging has just announced that the construction of new multi-purpose 5.450m³ trailing suction hopper dredger ‘DC Orisant’ is moving forward.

The first sections of this diesel electric aggregate TSHD are taking their shape, the company said in its announcement.

The new vessel, being built by Royal IHC for joint venture consisting of Den Herder (Reimerswaal Dredging) and Group de Cloedt, is set to be delivered in 2018.

According to the shipbuilder, the dredger installation has been designed to dredge marine aggregates (sand and gravel) for the construction industry.

The DC Orisant will also be extremely suitable for performing regular dredging projects, such as maintenance dredging and beach nourishment, IHC said.

The steel cutting ceremony for Reimerswaal Dredging’s new TSHD took place on March 15, 2017.
