Norwegian offshore safety body, the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA), has given Maersk Drilling an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) for the Maersk Invincible XLE jack-up rig.
This means the rig is in compliance with regulatory requirements and is allowed to carry out petroleum activities in Norway.
According to the PSA, in total, 63 offshore rigs had received an Acknowledgement of Compliance from the PSA.
The Maersk Invincible is the fourth and final XL Enhanced ultra harsh environment jack-up rig. It was delivered by Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) in South Korea in January 2017. The rig arrived in Stavanger, Norway, in late March .
The rig was awarded a $812 million five-year firm contract with Aker BP for plug and abandonment work on the Valhall field in the Norwegian North Sea. The contract could last as long as ten years since Aker BP has five one-year extension options as well.
