Norwegian ROV specialist Kystdesign has been awarded a contract to build another Surveyor Interceptor remotely operated vehicle (SROV) for a joint venture between MMT and Reach Subsea.

The Surveyor Interceptor is designed to carry survey instrumentation to perform pipeline inspection, route surveys, subsea installation surveys and environmental surveys down to 2.000 meters water depth.

The first unit was delivered in 2014, and had its first commercial project for Gassco at Knarr gas pipeline in the North Sea. Inspection of the 106-kilometre Knarr gas pipeline took 17 hours, at water depths of 140-400 metres at top speed of 4.5 knots.

Later, during MMT’s participation in the Black Sea Maritime Archaeology Project , the SROV carried out geophysical surveys setting new records for both depth of 1800 meters and sustained speed over 6 knots.

Kystdesign, who announced the contract through its social media on Thursday, has not disclosed any additional information about the latest project.
