BC Ferries’ Salish Raven, the third and final Salish Class LNG-fueled vessel stopped off in Santa Cruz, the Canary Islands on May 7 for refueling and provisioning.
The vessel is currently en route across the Atlantic Ocean to Panama, BC Ferries said in its statement.
The vessel is expected to arrive in Panama in approximately two weeks, depending on weather.
BC Ferries will take final acceptance and ownership of Salish Raven upon final inspection once the vessel arrives in B.C. Remontowa Shipbuilding is responsible to deliver the ship to B.C.
Some of BC Ferries’ crew members are on various legs of the voyage for training and familiarization.
Salish Orca, BC Ferries’ first LNG-fuel vessel, will start service next month on the Powell River – Comox route. Salish Eagle, the second Salish Class vessel, will start service on the Tsawwassen – Southern Gulf Islands route in late June.
Salish Raven will be introduced in the Southern Gulf Islands in the fall, BC Ferries said in an earlier statement.
