The Chief Executive of Atlantis Resources, Tim Cornelius, has been awarded the Lennard-Senior prize for his outstanding contribution to the promotion of tidal energy.
Cornelius received the award today, May 10, 2017, at the All-Energy conference, currently taking place in Glasgow, Scotland.
The Lennard-Senior Memorial Prize is awarded by the Society for Underwater Technology (SUT) to recognize the outstanding individual achievement in the field of marine renewable energy.
SUT is a multidisciplinary learned society that brings together organizations and individuals from more than 40 countries with a common interest in underwater technology, ocean science and offshore engineering.
Atlantis is a global developer of renewable energy projects with more than 1,000MW in various stages of development. This includes its flagship tidal array project – the MeyGen.
The Phase 1A of the MeyGen project has been completed , and it included the installation and operation of four tidal turbines with the total installed capacity of 6MW.
Once fully built, the 400MW MeyGen project is expected to generate enough predictable and emissions free electricity to power 175,000 Scottish homes.
