Innogy UK yesterday posted the first photo of the first wind turbine installed last week at the Galloper offshore wind farm.

The Siemens team onboard the wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) Pacific Orca is installing 56 Siemens 6MW turbines on the 336MW wind farm off Suffolk.

The first turbine was installed on 16 May.

The turbines are being shipped from the purpose-built Siemens’ assembly base at Peel Ports, Great Yarmouth, where the towers are put together and prepared by a 70-strong workforce.

Up to five turbines are being installed on each trip.

The offshore construction phase of the Galloper project started in June 2016 and is expected to be completed in late 2017.

The wind farm is expected to be commissioned in early 2018.
