Polish LNG terminal in Swinoujscie, named President Lech Kaczyński received its 15th cargo of liquefied natural gas over the past weekend.
According to Gaz-System, Polish gas transmission operator, volumes delivered to the terminal have now surpassed 3 million cubic meters of LNG, an equivalent of 1.8 billion cubic meters of regasified natural gas.
Gaz-System’s spokesman, Tomasz Pietrasieński , noted that one delivery of 120,000 cubic meters of LNG can cover the country’s gas demand for three days.
The LNG terminal in Swinoujście is designed to receive, regasify and supply of up to 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year to Polish transmission grid.
In April, Gaz-System, decided to expand the country’s first LNG import terminal to 7.5 billion cubic meters per year instead of the current 5 bcm/y.
The company, with its unit Polskie LNG, plans to add a second berth, a third storage tank and to develop LNG bunkering facilities.
The President Lech Kaczynski LNG terminal, operated by Gaz-System’s unit Polskie LNG, is Poland’s flagship project to diversify gas supplies and reduce dependence on pipeline imports from Russia.
