Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Ltd (BOWL) has shared a photo of the teams at Burntisland Fabrications’ (BiFab) facility in Methil preparing to upend one of the jacket foundations built for the 588MW Beatrice offshore wind farm.

In June 2016, the Fife-based BiFab won a GBP 100 million contract to manufacture 26 jacket substructures for the 84-turbine wind farm located in the Outer Moray Firth, Scotland.

The fabrication contract, awarded to BiFab by the EPCI Contractor Seaway Heavy Lifting, is due for delivery in two campaigns. 10 of the jacket substructures will be ready for delivery in August 2017, with the remaining 16 scheduled to be completed and delivered in April 2018.

The substructures are being manufactured in BiFab’s facilities in Arnish, Burntisland, and Methil, which is also where the units will undergo the final assembly and loadout.

Alongside BiFab, Beatrice foundations have put to work Bladt Industries, Smulders, Sif, and EEW SPC.

The Beatrice wind farm will comprise 84 Siemens 7MW turbines and is expected to be commissioned in 2019.
