The Town of Duck has just reported that as of yesterday, June 6, all three dredges are on-site and fully operational.
According to the report, the Liberty Island dredge arrived back on-site June 5 and resumed dredging around 5:45 that evening.
The dredge, working at the southern end of the project zone, experienced some mechanical issues on June 1st and was down for repairs.
The town also added that the construction zone for the Liberty Island was widened to just north of access at the South end of Bufflehead to approximately 133 S. Snow Geese Dr.
The other two dredges that are working on the Town of Duck Beach Nourishment project, the Padre and Dodge Islands, continue to take turns pumping south from the Ocean Bay Blvd. subline.
“ The active construction zone extends approximately Ocean Bay Blvd. to just south of Carrol Dr . The third subline is installed at Dianne St. and ready for use when the Dodge and Padre Islands complete work with the Ocean Bay subline ,” the report added.
Before the end of July and the project deadline, the contractor – Great Lakes Dredge and Dock (GLDD) – is planning to pump over 1,061,000 yd³ of sand onto the beach.
