Three foreign flagged ships were detained in UK ports during May 2017 after they failed Port State Control (PSC) inspection, the country’s Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) said.
The vessels in question are Ocean Nova, Gann and Ana M.
The Bahamas-flagged passenger ship Ocean Nova was arrested at Portsmouth on May 1 after an inspection found seven deficiencies with one ground for detention. The cruise vessel was released on May 2.
Additionally, the 1982-built passenger/cargo ship Gann was detained at Sunderland on May 8, with fourteen deficiencies and one ground for detention. Gann, which flies the flag of Norway, was released from detention a day later.
The third ship, Ana M, was put under detention at Avonmouth on May 30 after an inspection found nine deficiencies with four grounds for arrest. The Liberia-flagged bulk carrier was still detained on May 31.
Three ships remained under detention from previous months. They include Malaviya Seven, Sea Trident and Cien Porciento.
As disclosed, a total of four vessels remained under detention at the end of May.
