The Danish Energy Agency has granted a permission to Sønderborg Forsyningsservice A/S to explore the possibility of developing an offshore wind farm in an area between the islands of Als and Funen (Fyn).

The permit allows Sønderborg Forsyningsservice to conduct preliminary investigations for the establishment of offshore wind turbines in an area northeast of Als.

The project comprises between 20-44 offshore wind turbines with a total installed power of between 100-160 MW.

The permit is valid until 15 December, 2018.

Following the completion of investigations, Sønderborg Forsyningsservice will submit a preliminary report as well as the Environmental Impact Assessment to the Danish Energy Agency.

The results of the investigation may require that the project be completely or partially modified in relation to the application or the project can not be implemented, the Danish Energy Agency said.
