Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway has carried out an audit of Statoil’s follow-up of improvement processes in phase 2 of the Johan Sverdrup development.

In March and April 2017, PSA carried out an audit of how Statoil is ensuring that HSE risk is identified and accounted for in the work and decision processes involved in taking the Johan Sverdrup phase 2 project forward.

The licensees have not submitted an application for the plan for development and operation (PDO) for phase 2.

The Johan Sverdrup field is being developed in several phases. The first phase is in development and covers a field centre with facilities for processing, drilling, risers and accommodation.

In March 2017, the licensees of the Johan Sverdrup field decided to progress with phase 2 of the development, and the front end engineering design for this is under way. In the FEED phase, a new processing facility, subsea facilities and an unmanned wellhead facility are being planned.

PSA expects Statoil to report on how the observations will be addressed by August 07, 2017.
