Japan’s Inpex moved towards strengthening its liquefied natural gas marketing business by establishing a dedicated LNG trading unit.

The company is reorganizing its Global Energy Marketing Division as well as New Ventures Division, effective July 1, as it looks to achieve its growth targets.

With the establishment of the LNG trading unit, Inpex plans to improve the flexibility and efficiency of business operations relating to the regulation of the LNG supply and demand across the company’s gas supply chain, as well as LNG transportation.

These business operations including LNG trading and transportation from company’s projects outside of Japan have until now been carried out in part by the Gas Business Unit of the Global Energy Marketing Division.

With the reorganization, the LNG trading unit will become a subdivision of the Global Energy Marketing Division.
