PJ Valves (PJV) and PJ Piping (PJP) have been awarded a contract by McDermott to supply valves and piping elements for a project off Trinidad and Tobago.
PJV and PJP will be working on a fast-tracked new-build gas field with an unmanned platform situated 60 kilometers off Trinidad and Tobago’s southeast coast in water depths of 65 meters. The project is slated for first production in 2019.
Although the two companies did not state it specifically, it is most likely that the equipment is for BP’s Angelin gas project.
The British oil major approved the development of the Angelin gas project at the beginning of June. The development will include four wells and will have a production capacity of approximately 600 million standard cubic feet of gas a day (mmscfd).
Only days after sanctioning the project, McDermott was awarded an engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC) contract by BP for the wellhead platform and the subsea pipeline.
The EPCIC contract follows the completion of a multi-phase engineering contract, including pre-front-end engineering design (pre-FEED), front-end engineering design (FEED), and pre-execution engineering contracts previously awarded by BP to McDermott for the initial design and execution planning of Angelin.
According to Thursday’s statement, PJV and PJP will manufacture more than 500 specialty ball, gate and double block and bleed valves, and compact flanges in Italy and India. The PJ Group said that all valves would be metal-seated to ensure durability against the gas field’s abrasive conditions.
Spencer Linsell , sales director at PJV, said: “Valves and piping components can seem like a small decision in relation to large offshore projects, but making the right choice can have a substantial impact on the bottom line.”
The valve and piping package, currently in production, is scheduled for delivery in August 2017.
