South Korea’s Kogas is reportedly set to receive the first cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Cheniere’s Sabine Pass export plant in Louisiana under a long-term contract.
Two sources told Reuters the 174,000-cbm SM Eagle LNG carrier built in 2017 by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, loaded a cargo on June 2 and is heading for Kogas’ Tongyeong terminal.
The vessel is expected to dock at the terminal on July 2, according to the sources, however, the AIS data provided by the vessel tracking website MarineTraffic, shows the carrier would arrive on June 30.
The delivery would signal the start of the long.term supply contract Kogas has with Cheniere, under which Kogas will purchase approximately 3.5 million tons per annum of LNG on a free on board (FOB) basis.
