Ichthys Venturer, the Ichthys LNG project’s floating production, storage and offloading unit (FPSO), is preparing to depart the Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) yard in South Korea.
Citing a company spokesperson, Reuters reports that construction work on the FPSO has been completed, adding that the yard is carrying out last preparations and checks before the vessel departs.
Inpex comments follow media reports that the departure could be postponed by some six months, claiming a crack in the output processing equipment. The spokesperson noted no issues at the facility saying will depart the shipyard by the end of the month.
The project’s central processing facility (CPF) the Ichthys Explorer, has already been storm-safe moored in the Ichthys field off Western Australia.
Gas from the facility will be sent through an 890-kilometre subsea pipeline to the onshore LNG plant, at Bladin Point, near Darwin for processing, while most condensate and water from the CPF will be transferred to the FPSO.
