Klaipedos Nafta, the operator of the first Lithuanian LNG terminal, said the revenue from the facility during the month of June declined 3.6 percent compared to the same month in 2016.
The preliminary sales revenues from the facility for June 2017 reached €5.4 million ($6.2 million), Klaipedos Nafta said.
LNG revenues for the January-June period reached €35 million, 2.6 percent up on €34.1 million reported in the corresponding period in 2016.
Höegh LNG’s FSRU Independence located in the port of Klaipeda regasified 659,000 MWh of natural gas and delivered it to the natural gas transmission system during June, 50.2 percent down from June 2016, when the terminal regasified 1,323,000 MWh of natural gas.
During the first six months of 2017, the company regasified and reloaded 4,869,000 MWh of the natural gas, down 47.1 percent compared to the 9,207,000 MWh regasified in the first half of 2016.
Klaipedos Nafta attributed the lower LNG terminal activity to lower capacities ordered by the terminal users.
The largest of the three Baltic nations, Lithuania started importing LNG in December 2014 in order to reduce its dependence on Russian pipeline gas supplies.
Deliveries to Lithuania’s LNG terminal are being split between Litgas, a part of state-controlled energy group Lietuvos Energija, Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas, and Lithuanian fertilizer producer Achema.
