Waves4Power has welcomed the representatives of the Maestrale project to discuss opportunities for wave energy deployments in the Mediterranean.
The delegation, from Southern Europe energy agencies, universities and other institutions engaged in marine energy, visited Gothenburg and Waves4Power last week to study marine energy technologies that could be applied in the Mediterranean area.
Waves4Power presented how a complete energy system based on wave power and smart energy storage for island communities could be built up.
Jonas Kamf , CMO at Waves4Power, said: “There seems to be good possibilities for Waves4Power wave power system in the region. The meeting was a good opportunity for us to learn more about the special prerequisites and a possible market potential in various parts of the Mediterranean Sea.”
The goal of the project Maestrale, part of EU’s Interreg MED Programme, is to promote the development of blue energy in the Mediterranean area as a key sector for sustainable growth, and lay the basis for Maritime Energy Deployment Strategy in the area.
Waves4Power is a Swedish company that has developed the WaveEL wave energy device which produces electricity by using hydraulic pump connected to the accumulator that feeds a hydraulic motor with a generator, which in turn converts the hydraulic pressure to electric power.
To remind, Waves4Power recently redeployed its full-scale demonstrator device off the Norwegian coast for another set of trials.
