U.S. President Donald Trump aims to nominate attorney Kevin McIntyre to be chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
McIntyre will be designated chairman for the term expiring June 30, 2018, and an additional term expiring June 30, 2023.
He is the co-leader of the global energy practice at the law firm Jones Day, and brings FERC practice representing clients in all industry sectors, natural gas, conventional electricity, oil, hydropower, wind power and other renewable resources, and energy marketing and trading.
Commenting on the nomination, the Natural Gas Supply Association (NGSA) and the Center for LNG (CLNG) both expressed hope “the Senate will move quickly to consider his nomination.”
“FERC has lacked a quorum since February and the billions of dollars of investment and thousands of job opportunities in the U.S. continue to be sidelined by a lack of a quorum at FERC,” Dena Wiggins , president and CEO of the NGSA said.
Charlie Riedl , CLNG’s executive director added that restoring the quorum at FERC is essential to the LNG approval process.
