MRC puts spotlight on Ireland’s marine renewables

Marine Renewables Canada (MRC) is organizing a webinar intended to provide in-depth information on Ireland’s marine renewable energy sector.

The webinar, to be held on July 25, 2017, will provide participants with a development update on the marine renewable energy industry in Ireland, including information on current and planned projects, policy, test centers, research and development and innovation clusters.

It will feature four experts from the Irish marine renewables sector, including Peter Coyle from Marine Renewables Industry Association (MRIA); Declan Meally, from Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI); Jimmy Murphy, General Manager of Lir National Ocean Test Facility & MRE Technical Lead at Marine Renewable Energy Ireland (MaREI); and Tony Lewis from Ocean Energy.

As part of the discussion, presenters will highlight some of the current and upcoming projects including that from ÉireComposites, which will build the turbine blade for the FloTEC tidal energy project at their facilities.

Also, the speakers will talk about OpenHydro’s advances in commercializing tidal energy and collaboration with MaREI, Sea Power’s work at Galway Bay Marine and Renewable Energy Test Site, GKinetic’s plans for tidal device development and Numerics Warehouse and DesignPro’s plan to commercialize small-scale river devices utilizing GKinetic technology.

The deadline to register for the webinar has been set for July 24, 2017.

MRC is Canada’s national industry association for marine renewable energy working to align industry, academia and government to make Canada a leader in providing ocean energy solutions to a world market.
