Malaysian energy giant Petronas has delivered its first LNG cargo under a long-term sale and purchase deal to Thailand’s PTT on Thursday, July 20.

The cargo sourced at Petronas’ LNG complex in Bintulu, Sarawak, was delivered to the Map Ta Phut import terminal at Rayong on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand aboard LNG carrier Puteri Intan Satu with a 137,489 cubic meter cargo capacity.

Under the long-term agreement, Petronas will deliver up to 1.2 million tons per annum of liquefied natural gas to PTT over a 15-year period.

Speaking of the milestone, Petronas vice president of LNG Marketing & Trading, Ahmad Adly Alias, said that LNG under the SPA will be sourced from the company’s global portfolio. The company’s production capacity currently stands at a combined 34 mtpa of LNG.

The two companies have further agreed to explore opportunities to collaborate in LNG and natural gas value chain.
