James Fisher Marine Services (JFMS) is preparing to redeploy the third tidal turbine for the MeyGen project after completing the reinstallation of two turbines in Scotland’s Pentland Firth.
The operation included the relaying of cable and installing and reconnecting the two Andritz Hydro Hammerfest (AHH) turbines – both of which have resumed operation generating tidal power to the grid.
JFMS, selected as preferred O&M supplier for the MeyGen project in 2016 for a period of 5 years, deployed the initial Andritz turbines last November and was on hand to recover them earlier this year to enable system enhancements.
The company said it mobilized a full cable spread on the vessel Olympic Ares and is due to install the third tidal turbine later this year.
