The Hague-based LNG giant, Shell, has been contracted for a small-scale delivery liquefied natural gas to Klaipedos Nafta’s LNG bunkering station, being built in the port of Klaipeda.
Under the agreement, Shell will deliver a 1000-cbm LNG cargo that will mark the start of the facility’s commissioning activities.
Klaipedos Nafta noted in its statement on Tuesday the tests will run until January 2018, when all five 1000-cbm storage tanks are placed into operation.
Shell will deliver the cargo between August 15 and September 30, marking the first small-scale LNG delivery to the port of Klaipeda, as well as the first delivery of LNG to the bunkering station. The exact date of delivery will be agreed later depending on the schedule of the LNG carrier.
The LNG station will be equipped with two truck filling stations and will be accommodated for reloading the chilled fuel onto LNG carriers.
The facility is being built in order to deliver natural gas to potential consumers in the Baltic countries and north-eastern Poland, that are not connected to the existing gas pipeline networks.
