Liquefied natural gas throughput at the two French LNG terminal’s in Fos-sur-Mer near Marseille remained flat during the first six months of 2017 compared to the same period a year ago.

Data from the Port of Marseille Fos shows the LNG throughput at the Fos Tonkin and Fos Cavaou terminals totalled 2.6 million tons of the chilled fuel in the first half of the year.

LNG imports at the two terminals rose 8 percent year-on-year from 2.3 million tons in the first half of 2016 to 2.5 million tons in 2017.

Export of previously imported LNG plummeted by 74 percent, from 275,000 tons in the first half of 2016 to only 71,000 tons in the period currently under review.

The Fos Tonkin LNG terminal is owned and operated by Elengy, an Engie company, while the Fos Cavaou LNG terminal is operated by Fosmax LNG, an Elegy unit.

Combined, the two facilities are capable of storing up to 410,000 cubic meters of LNG and have an 11.25 billion cubic meters per year combined processing capacity.
