Petronet’s LNG terminals record highest throughput

India’s largest importer of liquefied natural gas, Petronet LNG, a net profit of 4.4 billion rupees ($68.3 million) for the second quarter of 2017.

India’s largest importer of liquefied natural gas, Petronet LNG, a net profit of 4.4 billion rupees ($68.3 million) for the second quarter of 2017.

This represents a 16 percent jump compared to the corresponding quarter in 2016, the company said in its filing to the stock exchange.

During the quarter under review, Petronet recorded the highest ever throughput at its two LNG terminals, reaching 192 trillion British thermal units (tBtu).

The Dahej LNG terminal processed 184 tBtu of LNG, operating at 97 percent of its average increased nameplate capacity. The facility’s throughput rose 4 percent compared to the previous quarter, and 12 percent compared to the corresponding quarter in 2016.

Petronet also reported the highest ever quantity of LNG processed at its Kochi liquefied natural gas import terminal, amounting to 8 tBtu during the quarter.

Petronet LNG’s two terminals have a combined handling capacity of 20 million tons per annum (mtpa) of the chilled fuel.
