DesignPro looks for environmental monitoring researchers

DesignPro is looking for suitable candidate who would develop a monitoring system protocol for future commercial deployments of small-scale hydrokinetic river turbines under the Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship.

DesignPro is looking for suitable candidate who would develop a monitoring system protocol for future commercial deployments of small-scale hydrokinetic river turbines under the Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship.

The potential research project will be focused on both the environmental and societal impact of DesignPro’s river turbines, according to EURAXESS, a pan-European initiative delivering information and support services to professional researchers.

The aim would be to develop a monitoring system protocol for future commercial deployments of river turbines for which DesignPro secured EU funding through Horizon 2020’s SME Instrument.

The funding was awarded for the construction and commercialization of 25kW and 60kW small-scale hydrokinetic river turbines, with the deployment of the 25kW device set for 2017. It will be followed by the deployment of a 60kW device in 2018 at certified river test sites for environmental and operational testing prior to commercialization.

The monitoring system protocol needs to be cost effective and easily repeated at diverse potential deployment sites, it is noted on the EURAXESS website .

The research project entails working with the certified test site on identification of flora and fauna that may be impacted during demonstration, and developing Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Systems that will integrate with resource assessment protocol and rank resource sites.

The expressions of interest should be sent before September 1, to allow for adequate time to complete the application form before the September 14, 2017 deadline.
