Liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports from Cheniere’s Sabine Pass liquefaction facility in Louisiana reached about 310.4 billion cubic feet of natural gas in the first six months of the year.
Cheniere’s Sabine Pass plant, currently the only such facility to ship U.S. shale gas overseas, exported in total 91 LNG cargoes in the period under review.
The largest importer of U.S. LNG was Mexico with a total of 26 cargoes during the period, data from the U.S. Department of Energy shows.
An increasing number of cargoes landed in the Asian market during the period with Japan receiving eight cargoes, South Korea importing seven and China importing five cargoes.
During the month of June alone, Sabine Pass export facility shipped a total of 15 cargoes, with prices ranging from $3.72 per mmBtu to $6.72 per mmBtu.
DOE’s report also shows that American LNG Marketing exported 103.6 million cubic feet (Mcf) of domestically produced LNG in ISO containers in the January-June period.
LNG was shipped from Miami, Fla. to Barbados with the export point price for all of the shipments at $10.00 per mmBtu.
In total, U.S. LNG exports during the month of June reached 52.4 billion cubic feet of natural gas.
