The US Coast Guard medevacked a 55-year-old male Philippine national from a 550-foot tanker while the vessel was some 13 miles west of Egmont Key on August 14.
Watchstanders at Sector St. Petersburg received a call from crew members of the 26,618 dwt Gaschem Stade. They reported the man was suffering from symptoms of a heart attack aboard the tanker.
A flight surgeon was briefed and recommended the man be medevacked.
The USCG launched a response boat-medium and a helicopter. After arriving on scene, a Coast Guard member was transported to the tanker to assist.
The USCG hoisted the man and transferred to a hospital in stable condition for further medical care.
