The Gate LNG terminal in the port of Rotterdam hit a new milestone on Tuesday, as the first LNG-fueled truck loaded the trailer with liquefied natural gas.

The loading was made possible due to the adjustment of rules and legislation, making LNG trucks compliant with ADR and regulation at terminals.

Rolande, Chr. Vermeer Transport and Gate LNG terminal have cooperated on the first loading, making LNG transport possible with an LNG-fueled truck.

Till now it was practically impossible to transport LNG with an LNG fuelled truck, however, the three companies show that there are no more restrictions anymore for ADR transport companies to make the transition to LNG trucks.

Last month, Gate LNG terminal started commercial operations of its two new truck loading bays to cater for future growth in the demand for LNG distribution via road or containers, enabling terminal customers to deliver LNG to retail stations, industry and ships.

The joint venture between Gasunie and Vopak, Gate LNG, has been loading trucks with LNG since 2014.
