Independent design and engineering consultancy, Arup, has added a senior LNG specialist Richard Mortimer to its team.
In his 28 years of experience, Mortimer worked on projects including the Santos GLNG project in Australia, and the Mozambique gas development project for Anadarko.
Based in Hong Kong, his focus will be on the development of LNG liquefaction, regasification and storage facilities. Together with the Arup team, Mortimer will be tasked to “deliver value and reduce risk across the life-cycle of a LNG project – including feasibility studies; investment advisory; pre and front end engineering designs; construction and operation.”
Arup, in its statement, notes that with the increase in investment, LNG projects are becoming larger and more complex.
Peter Thompson , director and East Asia energy business leader, Arup, said, “we are seeing significant development for both onshore and offshore LNG receiving terminals including floating storage regasification unit’s (FSRU’s) and associated onshore infrastructure. This is driven by a soaring energy demand stemming from rapid population growth and strengthening economies which needs to be matched by an increased supply in both power and fuel.”
With the addition of Mortimer to its team, the company is looking for its LNG business to claim a larger stake in serving this increasing trend.
