Cost reduction keeps on being one of the primary goals of the ever-growing offshore wind industry. Recognising the industry’s requirements, companies supporting construction and operation of offshore wind farms are expanding their ranges of services to both contribute the push to cut the costs and to tap into the vast opportunities offered. One of them is CWind, whose Managing Director Lee Andrews explained: “Our strategy is to look for bigger scope of work contracts that give more added value to both the client and to us.”

As offshore wind progresses, CWind is moving forward too by looking for bigger scopes of work packages, within which it can provide crew transfer vessels, blade repair and other packages of works.

The company recently completed a remedial cable burial project for Prinses Amaliawindpark off the Netherlands’ west coast, and is currently carrying out its 15-month contract for a range of secondary works at the Wikinger offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.

This year, CWind launched its new crew transfer vessel (CTV), the CWind Phantom, a 27-metre aluminium catamaran for which it said it is suitable for longer stretches of work at wind farms located further from shore.
