US liquefied natural gas (LNG) export player Cheniere Energy said the company’s Corpus Christi export project site on the U.S. Gulf Coast sustained minor damage from Hurricane Harvey.
Cheniere conducted initial assessments of impact from Hurricane Harvey, the company said on Monday, noting that it showed only minor cosmetic impacts.
“Now that the storm has passed through our Corpus Christi construction site, we are pleased to report that Corpus Christi saw no major impacts, and no interruption of LNG production at Sabine Pass has been experienced,” said Cheniere’s CEO Jack Fusco .
Corpus Christi LNG export project contractor, Bechtel, informed in a brief social media update that the projects on the Gulf Coast in Texas and Louisiana will remain closed on Monday as the company continues to evaluate the situation.
The company said that liquefied natural gas production operations continued through the storm.
As the storm is expected to continue to impact the Houston area, Cheniere has activated its emergency office location in Dallas to support its gas supply and trading division and other essential functions to ensure obligations are met to continue producing LNG at Sabine Pass.
Cheniere’s severe weather and safety teams remain activated and continue to monitor the remnants of Hurricane Harvey.
