The first four jacket foundations for the Beatrice offshore wind farm left the Bladt Industries’ site in Lindoe, Denmark, last week.

Bladt will provide 30 four-legged jacket foundations for Beatrice in total. They will be up to approximately 70 metres tall and will weigh up to 940 tons, which will make them considerably larger than previous jacket structures produced at Lindoe, Bladt said.

The remaining 54 jacket foundations for the project are being produced by Smulders , and BiFab .

The first six foundations have recently been installed by the heavy lift vessel Oleg Strashnov in the first phase which will be completed in December. The vessel will then return in May 2018 to install the remaining foundations.

The Beatrice wind farm will comprise 84 7MW Siemens turbines making a total capacity of 588MW, and will be located in the Outer Moray Firth off the north coast of Scotland.

The first turbines are expected to be installed in summer 2018, and the wind farm is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2019.
