Finnish engine manufacturer Wärtsilä has been awarded two contracts to supply its re-liquefaction plants to new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers currently under construction in South Korea.
One ship is being built at the Samsung Heavy Industries yard in South Korea for the international owner and operator Gaslog.
The other two are for Norway-based Knutsen and are being built at the Hyundai Heavy Industries yard.
The order was booked for the Gaslog ship in April 2017 and for the Knutsen ships in May/June 2017, Wärtsilä said in a statement.
The re-liquefaction plant ordered for these vessels features Wärtsilä’s latest mixed refrigerant technology, an energy efficient solution for smaller liquefaction applications.
This new installation will have a capacity of 1.5 – 2.5 tons/hour.
The Wärtsilä equipment is scheduled for delivery commencing February 2018.
