EC-OG goes commercial with Subsea Power Hub

East Coast Oil and Gas Engineering (EC-OG) has commercially launched the hybrid device based the ocean current energy conversion system with integrated energy storage called the Subsea Power Hub.

East Coast Oil and Gas Engineering (EC-OG) has commercially launched the hybrid device based the ocean current energy conversion system with integrated energy storage called the Subsea Power Hub.

The audience at the launch, which took place on September 5, 2017, included industry members from oil and gas operators and a number of bodies such as Scottish Enterprise, the Oil and Gas Technology Centre , Subsea UK and the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC).

Paul Wheelhouse, Scotland’s Minister of Business, Innovation and Energy praised EC-OG for being a valuable member of the subsea business community, setting an example for great innovation in Scotland, according to EC-OG.

Wheelhouse also commented on the fast progress and growth that the company has made, with the support of Scottish Enterprise.

Following successful sea trials of the prototype system at EMEC in Orkney, EC-OG is currently exhibiting at the Offshore Europe Conference and Exhibition in Aberdeen where the launch event took place.

The Subsea Power Hub is a an autonomous electrical power system which harnesses the energy within ocean currents to convert, store and deliver electricity on demand.
