Magseis, a Norwegian geophysical company, has completed its first large-scale survey using a modular ROV-crew.
Magseis said on Thursday that it had recovered the last sensor on the 4D seabed seismic survey in the North Sea.
Magseis CEO, Idar Horstad , added: “This proves the efficiency of our modular-ROV based concept. We believe the concept holds significant potential for our clients in conducting more cost-efficient and flexible 4D surveys. Magseis is now actively marketing the crew across several regions.”
Back in December 2016 Magseis won a contract for a full azimuth 4D seabed seismic acquisition survey using the company’s proprietary Marine Autonomous Seismic System (MASS) system.
The contract, awarded by ConocoPhillips, began during the second quarter of 2017 and it was estimated to last approximately three months inclusive of mobilization to the prospect. The deal included the mobilization of a second, ROV-based crew for the project.
According to Magseis’ second quarter financial results report from August, the survey was conducted on ConocoPhillips’ Eldfisk by using 3,000 MASS nodes and two ROVs.
