Scotland’s Moray Council has welcomed the awarding of the Contract for Difference (CfD) to the 950MW Moray Offshore Windfarm (East) project, adding that Buckie harbour is ideally placed to support the construction of the project.

“This is an exciting opportunity for the town and builds on our recent success of extending the shipyard and increased activity in the harbour – particularly over the last six months – to support the construction of the Beatrice Windfarm, also in the Moray Firth,” Chair of Moray Council’s Economic Development and Infrastructure Committee, Cllr John Cowe , said.

I look forward to our continued engagement with the developer and supply chain companies in offering solutions within the harbour and surrounding area, that will attract inward investment and, as a result, jobs into the area.”

Moray Offshore Windfarm (East) is being developed by Moray Offshore Windfarm (East) Limited, a joint venture company currently owned by EDP Renováveis (77%) and Engie (23%).

The project, scheduled to be completed in 2022, has received a 15-year Contract for Difference with a record low strike price of GBP 57.5/MWh.
