GTT, the French maker of LNG containment systems, received an order to design a storage tank for floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) scheduled for delivery in late 2019.

The vessel has been contracted at the South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries by Triumph Offshore, a unit of the Indian ship-owner Swan Energy.

GTT said on Monday it will design the LNG integrated tanks with a total storage capacity of 180,000 cubic meters, equipped with the Mark II membrane containment system.

The French company noted that over 140 vessels have been equipped with the system, and GTT’s chairman and CEO, Philippe Berterottière said that GTT and HHI have so far managed the newbuild of over 40 LNG carriers and FSRUs.

The floating storage and regasification unit will be deployed at the regasification terminal in Jafrabad, Gujarat being developed by Swan Energy’s unit Swan LNG.

The facility expected to go on-stream by early-2020 will have the capacity to handle 5 million tons of LNG per annum.

Swan Energy recently executed a deal with Japan’s Mitsui OSK Lines for the long-term operation and maintenance of a FSRU and a floating storage unit that would serve as the core receiving facilities of the terminal.

MOL has an option to participate in the FSRU joint ownership and will also invest in Swan LNG and participate in many facets of the project as a technical partner.
