The ConocoPhillips-operated Darwin LNG plant in Australia has shipped its 600th cargo of the chilled fuel since it started ops back in 2005.
The 154,800-cbm Amadi liquefied natural gas carrier loaded the milestone cargo and left the Darwin LNG facility at Wickham Point last week, ConocoPhillips said in a statement through its social media channels.
The LNG tanker is owned by Brunei Gas Carriers and on a long-term charter by producer Brunei LNG.
The Darwin Port organized celebrations in the harbor to acknowledge the milestone cargo, the statement reads.
LNG exports from the Darwin liquefaction facility started twelve and a half years ago.
The single-train plant has a design capacity of 3.7 million tons of LNG per year and is supplied with gas from the Bayu-Undan field via a 502-kilometer pipeline.
ConocoPhillips and its partners are also considering expanding their Darwin plant with the addition of a second liquefaction train.
ConocoPhillips is the majority interest holder and operator of the Bayu-Undan facility, the pipeline and the Darwin LNG plant. Other coventurers are Santos, Inpex, Eni, Tokyo Electric and Tokyo Gas.
