Liebherr Construction‏ has just released this photo of the dredger “Maria Vittoria Z” working in the Port of Piombino, Italy.

At the border between the Ligurian Sea and the Tyrrhenian Sea, the port of Piombino is an important center of both industry and tourism.

In front of the islands of Elba, Corsica and Sardinia, busy ferry lines operate from Piombino. At the same time, the port also services the metalworking and steel industry in its hinterland. Both activities require dredging to keep port accesses to depth.

The dredger, featuring Liebherr HS 8300 HD heavy duty cycle crawler crane, is working full steam ahead to keep these busy lines open.

The HS 8300 HD with its impressive load capacity of 300 tonnes is one of the largest duty cycle crawler cranes worldwide. This powerful machine is designed for material handling and can be operated with dragline buckets and different grabs with enormous volume capacity.

Apart from dragline operation the duty cycle crawler crane is suitable for various other material handling and exploitation jobs including dredging.
