The 2015-built bulk carrier Sinica Graeca has been arrested in Singapore waters, Supreme Court of Singapore’s data shows.
Featuring 63,300 dwt, the bulker was detained in the evening hours of September 24.
The reason for the ship’s detention are said to be claims regarding damages suffered in a collision on August 17.
Sinica Graeca collided with Chemroad Mega oil/chemical tanker in Johor waters. Although there were no casualties reported, the bulker sustained considerable hull damage. In addition, an oil spill resulted from the collision. Earlier, the owner of the vessels, Greek shipping company Angelakos, was asked to post a USD 1.16 million bond in response to the oil spill.
Arresting Solicitor was Resource Law LLC, while Focal Investigation & Security Agency has been appointed for security and investigation purposes related to the ship’s arrest.
The Marshall Islands-flagged ship is currently anchored at Raffles Reserve.
Sinica Graeca has a market value of USD 20.26 million, VesselsValue’s data indicate.
