Swedish wave energy developer CorPower Ocean has issued a request for quotations for marine operations related to the ocean deployment of the CorPower S3 device.

CorPower’s Stage 3 wave energy converter, currently undergoing final dry testing on a rig with simulated wave loading at CorPower’s facilities in Stockholm, is soon to be transported to Orkney and deployed at the European Marine Energy Centre’s (EMEC) Scapa Flow test site for wet testing.

During the trials at EMEC, periodic retrievals and re-deployments of the device are planned within the verification program that will be taking place between November 2017 and April 2018.

In this regard, CorPower is inviting bids for a marine contractor to work with the company during the test period, developing expertise in the offshore handling and integration of the device with associated subsystems including a bottom based foundation, mooring system, tidal adjustment system and electrical connection to a microgrid unit.

The demonstration of the S3 device is supported by Wave Energy Scotland, InnoEnergy, the Swedish Energy Agency and the EU FORESEA program.

The deadline for bids to the tender has been set for October 18, 2017.
