The dual-fuel trailing suction hopper dredger Scheldt River recently returned from successful sea trials, during which it sailed on LNG and its dredging equipment was extensively tested.

The 8,400m³ TSHD, the second dredger in the DEME fleet equipped with dual-fuel engines, was officially handed over by Royal IHC to DEME last week.

Scheldt River boosts great dredging performance in shallow waters and meets and exceeds all current emission regulations, even in the emission control areas such as the North Sea, DEME said.

Royal IHC has just released this amazing video of the TSHD’s sea trials.
