DeepOcean said it has installed all 91 inter-array cables and completed the base scope trenching operations at DONG Energy’s (Ørsted) Race Bank offshore wind farm site.

Once fully operational, Race Bank will have a capacity of 573MW which should provide sufficient green energy to power over half a million UK homes from the 91no. 6MW turbines off the Norfolk coast.

This project is located at a challenging worksite with strong currents, shallow waters, widely varied seabed soils, and of course, consistently strong winds. DeepOcean was able to complete the installation and burial of the 91 cables with an approximate overall length of 106 kilometers.

The scope also included route engineering, pre-lay grapnel runs, and cable protection system installation.

DeepOcean used the Edda Freya vessel to complete cable installations; The T2 and UT1 trenchers, operated from the Volantis vessel; and Deep Helder vessel for post trench survey.
